Hi! I'm Jennifer Richardson
I’ve been making art my whole life. Watercolor found me the way the best things do, unexpectedly, and completely.
I’m a lifelong artist, a military spouse, and someone who has lived with ADHD long enough to understand that the way I experience the world - the noticing, the restlessness, the pull toward the overlooked detail - is not a problem to manage. It’s the whole thing. It’s why I paint.
I’ve explored almost every medium. I keep coming back to watercolor because it doesn’t let me force anything. The water does what it wants. My job is to collaborate, to see what’s possible within the unpredictability and to find the moment where a scene becomes something you’d want to live with.
That last part matters to me more than it might appear. I hold a Master of Arts in Arts in Health from the University of Florida, and I spent four years delivering wellbeing programmes for the US military community located in the UK. In a six-week watercolour programme I ran for military spouses, participants showed an average 10.4-point improvement on the WEMWBS, a validated NHS wellbeing measure. That’s not a small number.
I’m not telling you that to impress you. I’m telling you because it changed how I think about what I make. The art on your walls isn’t decoration. It’s an active part of your environment, affecting how you feel in a room, how your nervous system reads the space, what happens when you walk past it on a Tuesday morning before you’ve properly woken up. I think about that every time I decide whether a painting is finished.
If you’re looking for art that will still earn its place on your wall ten years from now, I think we might be the right fit.
